Conditions were glorious when 22 gents took to the course at Dunaverty Golf Club last Saturday for the playing of the 2023 November Medal competition.
The threat of an early frost never materialised and the sun shone on the players to make golfing conditions ideal and low scoring very possible.
The first three-ball off the tee at 8.30am produced some fantastic golf between them and, at the end of the day, finished first, second and third.
The best round of the day was from Alistair McConnachie who recorded 10 threes on his card, which included four birdies in a superb scratch one-under-par total of 65 to take the title.
Robert Irvine pushed Alistair to the end by returning a magnificent scratch 67 and Jim Warren separated the pair on the handicap result with a fine nett 63.
Graeme McLennan continued his fine recent form to lead the rest of the field to fourth place with a nett 64.
“Thanks to Moyra Jane Paterson and staff at The Putt Stop for looking after all players and to greenkeepers Jonathan Barbour and Campbell MacBrayne for their continued preparation of the course,” said a club spokesperson.
Result: 1 Alistair McConnachie 65-3=62, 2 Jim Warren 74-11=63, 3 Robert Irvine 67-3=64 (bih). Lowest gross: Alistair McConnachie 65.
