NHS Ayrshire and Arran show their support for 16 Days of Action

Staff and management of NHS Ayrshire and Arran have pledged to help raise awareness of gender-based violence as part of the 16 Days of Action campaign.

The 16 Days of Action awareness campaign takes place every year, beginning on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and runs until Human Rights Day on December 10.

Throughout this 16-day period, the global campaign raises awareness of violence against women and provides an important opportunity to call for changes to make women and children safe from abuse.

To launch the campaign, members from Ayrshire and Arran NHS board showed their support by signing the White Ribbon Pledge to ‘never to commit, condone or remain silent about men’s violence against women.’

Chair of Ayrshire and Arran NHS board, Lesley Bowie said: “I am delighted to support this campaign to end violence against women and girls. By raising awareness of gender-based violence, we are helping to encourage discussion and to support personal and collective action.”

During the 16 Days of Action 2023, there will be a number of initiatives taking place across the globe, including on Arran where a pledge signing event took place at the ferry terminal earlier this week.
