Completion of overnight A828 works postponed

Due to a poor weather forecast the dates for ongoing roadworks on the A828 near Appin will now be delayed until after the festive period.

BEAR Scotland has advised motorists that the resurfacing works will now only continue on Monday December 18 and not on Sunday, Tuesday or Wednesday (December 17, 19 and 20) as planned.

The works will then be restarted after Christmas after they began on Wednesday December 13 and led to an overnight road closure.

Motorists using the A828 will benefit from an improved road surface as resurfacing, with works carried out between 7pm and 7am on Monday.

However, a 30mph speed limit will remain in place during the day, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

As before, the A828 will be closed in both directions on Monday night, with amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm,12pm, 2am and 4am to allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site.

Emergency service vehicles will be allowed to pass through the site throughout the working period.

BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, Ian Stewart said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.”
