Fort William fundraiser Josh Higginson has been making a splash again – this time raising a total of £250 for Lochaber Food Bank.
A former pupil at Glencoe House, Lochaber High School and the UHI college
Fort William, the 19-year-old now works for High Life Highland at the Ben Nevis Visitors Centre, litter picking and keeping the area clean for visitors and locals alike.
He also volunteers at Green Fingers and New Connections Café via his attendance at The Montrose Centre.
Having put on The Greatest Show for his neighbours in 2021 Josh is always trying to think of new ideas to raise funds for the food bank and this time he decided to undertake a 10,000 metres swim (400 lengths of Lochaber Leisure Centre Pool) over a period of time.
Josh loves to perform and is keen to take part in all kinds of activities where he can make people happy and laugh.
His main passion is music of all kinds, but his favourite is Scottish Pipe band music and he loves to follow the High School band when they play in the street.
He started teaching himself the drums through watching you tube and then went to drumming lessons.
Josh also has a fondness for Elvis Presley and has been singing and playing the guitar to Elvis songs.
A keen member of the Duncansburgh and McIntosh Boys Brigade where, with the support of the Captain and officers, he has obtained the Queens Badge – the highest award for Boys ’Brigade.
He has also completed the Duke of Edinburgh Gold award, having previously earned his Silver and Bronze.
All his achievements are with the help and support of the charity Reach4Reality who work with children and young people who need support in the community.
Through their support he continues to go canoeing and camping, which he enjoys.
Josh has spent the last few months seeking out sponsorship and would like to thank all who contributed.
He is very aware of issues affecting people in the community and always wants to help.
Reach4Reality is an interdenominational Christian organisation working with young people and young adults from the Highlands aged nine to 19+ with social interaction difficulties, such as autism.
The group involves the young people in a planned series of outdoor activity breaks tailored to their individual needs.
